Stonewall and the Gay Liberation Front are synonymous.
It was some of the founding members of Gay Liberation Front who wrote on the streets
and walls "Tomorrow night, Stonewall," in the call to organize — that was the moment that
Stonewall shifted from riot to rebellion.
Members went from confronting police in the Village for the next several nights to
challenging politicians and the media narrative about LGBTQ people.
Before the word intersectionality was coined GLF championed the activism of youth, trans
people, and people of color.
GLF confronted homophobia in the women’s movement and misogyny in the gay male
community
In that first year of activism GLF was central to the creation of what became the first Pride
March
By the end of that first year there were GLF chapters all over the US .
GLF helped our community build a new sense of identity and pride
